Created marketing content for the City of Sugar Land through digital media campaigns, small business advertising, signage, and economic development projects.

What I Learned

My time at the City of Sugar Land, working under Melisa Raju and Nicole Kestenbaum, sparked my passion for marketing and showed me the impact digital media can have on locally owned businesses.

  • The Internship

During my internship with the City of Sugar Land Economic Development and Tourism teams, I worked on a mix of creative projects, local business initiatives, and in-person community events. From supporting city partnerships to contributing to branding and marketing efforts across Sugar Land, the experience helped grow both my creativity and confidence in strategic communication.

  • As part of the City of Sugar Land Tourism team, I visited local attractions including the Sugar Land Museum of Natural Science, local restaurants, dog parks, the historic sugar mill, and other city destinations to capture and create promotional content. The content was used across social media, websites, blogs, and digital campaigns to help market Sugar Land as a destination city.

  • The Great Homes Program is a residential reinvestment initiative created to empower Sugar Land’s homeowners. My fellow intern and I collaborated on branding elements for the project, including logo concepts and signage displayed around Sugar Land to help create a recognizable and community-focused campaign identity.
