What I Learned
My time with JDCA strengthened my research, writing, and communication skills while showing me the impact thoughtful storytelling can have within the nonprofit space. I also gained experience balancing creative projects with detailed research and learned how digital communication can help educate, connect, and inspire communities.

During my time with JDCA, I worked on a combination of nonprofit research, digital communication, and creative projects alongside the Marketing Director. From assisting with the 2023 State of the Cure report to supporting social media and outreach initiatives, the experience strengthened both my research skills and my passion for meaningful, purpose-driven communication.

While working with JDCA, I assisted with research and writing for the 2023 State of the Cure report, a publication focused on advancements and ongoing research in Type 1 Diabetes treatment and cure development. The experience strengthened my skills in nonprofit research, long-form communication, collaboration, and translating detailed information into accessible and impactful content.

After several months with JDCA, I transitioned into managing the organization’s social media platforms, overseeing content creation, scheduling, and daily digital communication efforts.

Research & Publications
Alongside my marketing and communication responsibilities at JDCA, I also assisted with research for many of the organization’s publications and reports. During my time there, I completed and contributed to two published research papers focused on Vertex and islet cell research related to Type 1 Diabetes cure development.
